Membrane proteins generally have higher pI and contain post translational modifications (PTMs). It is hard to extract membrane proteins due to their hydrophobicity. As a result, membrane proteins showed poor resolution on 2D gels, presenting a challenge in proteomics studies.
Applied Biomics developed a unique method to efficiently extract membrane proteins from the prepared membrane fractions. In combination with our optimized 2D electrophoresis conditions, we offer our customers high resolution membrane proteome array to facilitate their membrane proteomics projects.
This images below showed 2D DIGE analysis of the HT29 membrane proteins of S- and G2/M-phase. The membrane complex fractions were prepared using sucrose density gradient. The membrane proteins were extracted from membrane fractions using Applied Biomics’ membrane protein extraction buffer. The 2D DIGE images revealed high resolution of membrane protein spots and clearly showed some significantly changed membrane proteins between S-and G2/M-phase.
